New York City Aquarium

Sited on the Queen’s coast, a project that adds to a metropoli, already provided with all necessary and also unnecessary, a big containing structure filled with different kinds of habitats (mostly aquatic); but also a project to adjust the city with the increasing climate changes.

The main building is a thin slab (made porous by patios) that covers a succession of ecosystems (fresh water, swampy, tropical, oceanic…) crossed by the visitors path.
The itinerary ends rising to the new embankment height in the public pools zone, in front of Manhattan island.

The new embankment design is intended not only to protect Queen’s inhabitants from flooding but also to give them the way to get in touch with water.
